of the EUB's Implementation Progress to October 2003 December 2003: EUBMODELS for calculating emergency planning zones for sour wells, sour pipelines and sour production facilites (draft software and documentation now available) (December 2003) December 2003: The EUB has released the following documents from the May 2002 and March 2003 workshops on emergency response planning: Report by Gecko Management Consultants - Emergency Response Planning Exercises Workshop Conclusions and Recommendations (based upon workshops conducted in March 2003) Notes on Exercises Input from May 2002 Workshop On October 28, 2003, the EUB released its Public Safety and Sour Gas Semi-Annual Progress Report, October 2003 On July 3, 2003, the Advisory Committee on Public Safety and Sour Gas issued a Media Advisory announcing the release of its report entitled Evaluation of EUB's Implementation Progress to April 2003. On April 29, 2003, at a news conference in Red Deer, the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board released the 2003 Public Safety and Sour Gas Annual Progress Report. This Annual Report is an update for Albertans on the progress the EUB is making to ensure that sour gas development continues to take place safely in Alberta. Of the 87 recommendations made to the EUB by the Provincial Advisory Committee on Public Safety and Sour Gas in their report in December of 2000, 18 recommendations have been completed; work continues on a further 52 recommendations and the EUB will begin addressing the remaining 17 recommendations by April 2004. Notes from Workshops on Emergency Preparedness and Response - March 4, 2003 (Grande Prarie) and March 6, 2003 (Calgary) On January 28, 2003, the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board released the Quarterly Progress Report on the Public Safety and Sour Gas covering October - December 2002. In October 2002, the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board released the Quarterly Progress Report on the Public Safety and Sour Gas covering July - September 2002. September 11, 2002: On June 20, 2002, the EUB hosted a Technical Workshop involving those who had feedback on the Draft Protocol on Hazard and Risk Analysis for Sour Gas Developments (released February 13, 2002 as part of the work on Recommendations 17, 18, and 19. An 'issues matrix' was compiled to track the feedback received plus the EUB's responses. On July 31, 2002, the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board released the Quarterly Progress Report on the Public Safety and Sour Gas covering April - June 2002. July 8th: Advisory Committee on Public Safety and Sour Gas Evaluation of EUB's Implementation Progress On April 30, 2002 the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board released its Public Safety and Sour Gas Annual Progress Report April 2002.

Industry On January 24, 2002, the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board released the third Quarterly Progress Report on the Public Safety and Sour Gas Implementation Plan covering October - December 2001.
On October 26, 2001, the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board released the second Quarterly Progress Report on the Public Safety and Sour Gas Implementation Plan covering July - September 2001.
On August 17, 2001, the EUB released Interim Directive ID 2001-05 on site-specific emergency response plans for sour operations, emergency planning zones, and reduced planning zones (Implementation Recommendations 54, 60, and 61) On Tuesday July 31, 2001, the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board released the first Quarterly Progress Report on the Public Safety and Sour Gas Implementation Plan and associated summary documents.
On June 12, 2001, the EUB released a draft Interim Directive for comment. This draft ID relates to the recommendations on emergency planning zones and emergency response plans. (See above - Note of August 17 for release of final Interim Directive) On Wednesday April 25, 2001, the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board began its rollout of proposed Public Safety and Sour Gas Implementation Plans for the upcoming year. This release follows a commitment by EUB Chairman Neil McCrank to make public the EUB's plans for addressing 87 recommendations presented to the Board in January 2001 by the provincial Public Safety and Sour Gas Advisory Committee.
